- This past April, Holland Public Schools had a professional development day on technology and providing an Equitable Education for All. We began to embrace the vision of flipped classrooms where students could learn at their own pace, any time, any place, and any way. With Wireless Communication Devices (WCDs), students could access the cloud for collaboration and communication. The teacher's role was changing.
- In May, I signed up for 21Things4Teachers through the OAISD to learn about technology in education. What a blessing! I spent the summer evaluating technology with other teachers & learning how to implement it.
- My current technology focus is building a professional learning community (PLC) beyond my building. I'm following and interacting online with people interested in Education. Social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Vimeo) streams posts that I can read or discard. My PLC helps me sort data quickly.
- Another helpful resource is the Michigan Electronic Library. MeL maintains a free reliable database of resources for students and adults. LearnPort has online classes for teachers. MACUL publishes an eMagazine about technology integration. REMC hosts the Connected Educator video series. Master teachers present teaching strategies that worked for them.
- Check the tweets below for ways WCDs can engage students in higher order thinking.
